Are you facing an unplanned pregnancy and don’t know where to turn to? Are you considering having an abortion because you may be scared to face it alone? Scripture is clear on the preservation of life. Abortion is a sensitive, touchy, political, and controversial topic, so I’m writing this post out of love and with the best intentions. Have you wondered what does the Bible say about abortion?

What Does The Bible Say About Abortion?

Having said this do you understand that God “our creator” is the giver and taker of life…NOT MAN! Does this mean you’re exempt from God’s grace and forgiveness if you have had an abortion?

NO!

The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. However, I will state this bluntly…I would not want to be the individual standing before God on judgment day having performed abortions if he or she does not repent of this Sin!

Allow me to make something as abundantly clear as possible and in a nonjudgemental and loving way…ALL human life is sacred in the eyes of God. The Bible is clear that life begins at the moment of conception.

Now with that said, I realize that many women will find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy, but I want you to be aware of what the Bible says about abortion.

What Does the Bible say about abortion?

First and foremost, I am by no means judging anyone, “This is in God’s hands alone” but “from my Christian perspective” unplanned pregnancy or not, does not make it right to consider abortion.

I 100% hate controversy (anyone who knows me personally knows this) and I do everything in my power to separate myself from it as much as humanly possible.

Now I’m not naive enough to assume some people will completely disagree with my opinion of abortion and that’s ok. I will still show you love as Jesus Christ shows love. I am certain that many will argue the fact that abortion is justifiable due to the following reasons…

  1. Health Risks
  2. Rape
  3. Incest

I know many women who have been raped, and regardless of this fact, they either kept their baby or allowed a couple to adopt. In my eyes, other options are available. Please check out Choices4Life for more information.

Sadly, the media is constantly bombarding women with other “options” and “routes” they can go with but I want to point you to the only true source that matters above all else…God’s word!

Unplanned pregnancy and profile

Sweet friend, you may be wondering how in the world the topic of abortion comes across “Angie’s Radar?” In all honesty, God! I hadn’t planned on writing a post about this…not even close.

I usually steer clear of any controversial topics such as this. However, God has placed this burden in my heart so strongly that I simply can’t ignore it!

My husband and I recently watched a movie that I’ve been wanting to see. I already knew it was a true story based on the life of Abby Johnson.

I wanted to try and understand the mentality of women on why they’d choose abortion to begin with. Before we get into what does the bible say about abortion it’s important to understand the following also…

  1. What is the definition of abortion?
  2. When did abortion start?
  3. When did abortion become legal?

What is the definition of abortion? Source: Wikipedia

The practice of abortion—the termination of a pregnancy—has been known since ancient history. Various methods have been used to perform or attempt an abortion, including the administration of abortifacient herbs, the use of sharpened implements, the application of abdominal pressure, and other techniques.

When did abortions start? Source: Wikipedia

Though the physicians’ campaign against abortion began in the early 1800s, little progress was made in the United States until after the Civil War. The English law on abortion was first codified in legislation under sections 1 and 2 of the Malicious Shooting or Stabbing Act of 1803.

January 1973. In deciding Roe v. Wade in January 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that restrictive state abortion laws were unconstitutional, thereby legalizing induced abortion throughout the country.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT ABORTION?

Why do Christians oppose abortion?

Now I can only speak for myself. However, as was previously stated life is sacred. As Christians, you must protect the lives of unborn children.

In regards to the movie let me begin by saying Unplanned is a beautiful story of God’s grace, redemption, and forgiveness.

However, I didn’t realize how much this movie would impact my own life. Now, first and foremost, I would NEVER EVER consider an abortion regardless of the reason…Period!

To me, abortion is against God’s will and plan. I found a recent article on “Why Christians Should Oppose Abortions” and I completely agree with Summer and her stance on the subject of abortion.

I’m sorry if this offends anyone! It’s not my intention to do so and I love you! Having said this, it bears repeating that God has placed this burden on my spirit to write about.

I don’t want to be silent when I know this may reach someone to decide PRO-LIFE is a God-honoring decision.

Sweet friends, as I sat there watching this movie with my husband I was cringing and bawling like a baby. Ignorance more often than not can be bliss y’all, just saying.

The fact of the matter is I’ve avoided things of this nature. The thought of a baby being taken willingly when we lost our little one is difficult.

I knew the process wasn’t gonna be pretty or anything of the sort, but my word! After the abortion procedure scene, Abby went from seeing the baby moving to being obliterated in the blink of an eye.

I told Mike that I had no clue it would be that hard to watch. His reply was, “What were you expecting?” I said, NOT THAT!!!”

The sad part is it was probably downplaying the actual reality of the procedure. I can not fathom it. We lost our first grandchild to SIDS at 4 1/2 months old…to witness how a baby is removed from the womb like a vacuum cleaner…I broke down.

Ladies, do you know there are other options and resources available instead of abortion? Numerous couples are unable to conceive a child and would consider it a privilege, honor, and joy to adopt your baby. Please just think about it.

What does the bible say about abortion due to a predetermined disability or deformity?

Mike and I have friends who (according to their ultrasound) knew their baby was going to have abnormalities the parents decided to keep their baby.

The parents were told their baby would not have a “real life” and kept pushing them to abort. Not only this but the doctors told them their baby would not live past 11 minutes.

However, I am thrilled to tell you that they both refused to consider abortion. In their eyes, as well as mine, it’s not something they would ever consider.

Our friends were determined to give their baby the best life (whatever time that may be) and cherish every moment God blessed them with.

The child lived way past the 11 minutes the Dr gave them. It was recently that their precious child lost His life at the age of 11.

I can not begin to tell you the numerous lives that were changed because His Mommy and Daddy refused to give up and do what the doctors wanted them to.

  1. Was the child’s life hard? Yes
  2. Did the child suffer? Yes
  3. Was the child’s life worth living? Yes
  4. Did the child’s life impact others? Absolutely, and he still is!

Woe to him who strives with him and who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ or ‘Your work has no handles? Isaiah 45:9

Woe to him who says to a father, ‘What are you begetting?’ or to a woman, ‘With what are you in labor?’” Isaiah 45:10

Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and the one who formed him: “Ask me of things to come; will you command me concerning my children and the work of my hands? Isaiah 45:9

If you had an abortion will God forgive You?

In Him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. Ephesians 1:7

I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins. Isaiah 43:25

How Planned Parenthood Former Director Abby Johnson Became Pro-life

I SAW THE BABY FIGHTING FOR ITS LIFE! WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT ABORTION? #PROLIFE!

Abby is changing lives with her story for God’s glory! This is living out the great commission of saving the sanctity of life.

My friend Laura Emerson from Cheered on Mom wrote a post about what does the Bible say about abortion and bible verses about abortion on Kingdom Bloggers that I’d love for you to check out.

At my church, there’s a woman who I admire for her bravery. She shares her experience with abortion and is now an advocate for life.

There is hope after abortion through the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He extends mercy, forgiveness, and redemption through His blood sacrifice on the Roman rugged cross. All you have to do is simply repent and ask to receive it.

As a Christian how should you approach others that stand for Prochoice when you are pro-life?

What Would Jesus Do?

To start with, as Christians, we are supposed to model Jesus Christ’s love and compassion to everyone. We must show His love and let the women know we care about them and their unborn babies.

what does the bible say about the Sanctity of Life?

WWJD: What Would Jesus Do?

Simply stated…Don’t lose our tempers! If we feel anger starting to take over…Pray or walk away. Demonstrate the TRUE LOVE of Jesus Christ…Show them God’s Love. Remember, All Sin is equal in the eyes of God. God loves ALL people but hates the SIN.

Secondly, the best advice I can give is to continue to be a living testimony that’s hard to deny. Don’t be afraid to be open and honest about where you stand for the sanctity of life.

My personal viewpoint on abortion is its murder, I’m not going to sugarcoat it. Plain and simple. Woe to the DRS who perform these procedures! Unless they repent for their actions…They will stand before almighty God one day and be held accountable for EVERY LIFE THEY’VE TAKEN!
