It’s easy to trust God’s plan when things are going smoothly isn’t it Friends? That being said, do you trust God’s plan when things are tough? Now that can be much harder at times if I’m being completely honest. How can we trust God’s plan when life is hard?
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

How You Can Trust God’s Plan When Life is Hard?
I have faced many challenging situations and battles in my lifetime but the one that’s before me now is by far the hardest. When you’re a Christian, you have to do the right thing even if it’s hard and even when it hurts. In other words, you must trust God’s plan no matter what.
My husband and I had to do the right thing. It is so incredibly hard to witness someone you love so much being hurt yet at the same time honoring God first and foremost is what we had to do.
Sweet friends, if you have to choose between hurting someone you love or go against God and what his word say’s…the choice is crystal clear. The choice must be not offending God.
Lean not on Your understanding, but God’s
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
No matter how much it hurts us to hurt the people we love we do NOT want to receive God’s wrath and judgment because our Eternity is at stake. First and foremost, we’re not responsible for other people’s choices. I feel as if I’m being pulled and stretched beyond my limit.
What I want them to realize:
- Why can’t you see this for what it is? Please!
- We did not make Him choose the choice He did.
- We are not the bad guy.
- Everyone in life are responsible for our own actions and consequences.
This reminds me of a time when I was younger. My little brothers had a Stretch Armstrong doll and I’m sure you remember those, don’t you? If not, I suppose I’m stating, how old I am.
Anyway, one of my brothers would take both arms and the other would take both legs and I joke you not it seemed that little doll would stretch from one end of the house to the other.
Funny thing is they would let go at the same time and that little doll would return to its normal size. Right now my prayer is that I could feel the release of Stretch Armstrong too but that isn’t happening though because I’m weighed down by the burden of it all.
Remember God is Always faithful even through our doubts: you can trust Gods plan
I keep asking God these questions:
- Where are you God?
- Why is this happening God?
- Can this be repaired God?
- Did we do the right thing God?
- What good can possibly come from this God?
Sweet friends, I know not to ask these questions and I also know without a doubt that Mike and I honored God in a choice we were forced to make. We trust God’s Plan!
Was it hard? Absolutely! Without a question, it was one of the most difficult choices we’ve had to make since being together. That being said, we all will stand in judgment before God and be held accountable for everything we say and do.
Now that’s whether good or bad! I can not in good conscience condone a choice that someone made and not do what we were forced to do. It would be saying the actions of the individual were justified and we were Ok with Him doing it.
Can a lesson be learned? I would hope so! However, I have seen no signs of improvement whatsoever and if possible it just keeps getting worse and worse.
Within my spirit I trust God’s plan and I know we made the God-honoring decision. Now if only my heart would catch up to that fact. I keep crying out to God if you have a plan in all this Lord help me to see it!
Mike and I went to try to explain why we had to do what we did and we could see the walls going up and our words were falling on deaf ears. When you try to compare the way a believer views things as opposed to the way a non-believer view things you have a totally different opinion.
Does that change the love we have for them? No! Of course not. You love the individual but hate the sin. There’s a huge difference and we trust God’s plan to work it out for good.
When someone makes poor choices you have to live with the consequences of your actions and can not put the blame on someone who had no part in it. Especially when the person has done more for you than anyone else would have, as Christians, we desperately want others to see that!
I was thinking to myself things surely can’t get worse than what they are so I’m going to at least try to get them to understand and I calmly and purposely said I love you and I always will. Needless to say, they didn’t want to hear that or anything else.
Rely on the Character of God Trust God’s Plan
That is where I messed up! I tried to fix it and Angie needs to STOP and START Trusting God’s Plan! Nothing catches God off guard!
God sees what we can not see, God’s ways are not our ways, God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, God knows before, the middle, and the end, of all things! I must turn towards God not away from God and I must trust God’s plan.
When you’re up against circumstances such as these and trusting God seems impossible, go to throne of grace. Jesus will meet you there and give you the hope and assurance you need.
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
Pray for strength to trust god’s plan
This should be a given. However, that being said, we’re you too close to a situation you can tend to be driven by your heart and not your head. We need the Holy Spirit working on our behalf to remind us that we can trust God’s plan.
In all honesty, we must consistently pray that God would enable us to trust him not only in the good times but even more so in the challenging times. Pray that God would help us to wait patiently and to trust God wholeheartedly. The profound truth is apart from God we can do nothing.
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5
