Do you know the importance of walking with God? As Christians, it’s your heart’s desire to walk faithfully but the challenge is truly understanding how to do this, right? When Jesus Christ returns to take his bride to Heaven do you want to be left behind? You must walk by faith not by sight! Read scripture on why it is so important as well as the 4 pillars we are called to follow.

He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly, with your God. Micah 6:8

What Does the Importance of Walking with God Look Like?

First and foremost, you need to be walking faithfully with God now so we will know without a doubt you will be ready for when Jesus Christ returns. If you are walking with “someone,” you don’t want to be walking in a different direction.

If you’re walking in opposite directions you can’t speak to one another nor can you see what the other sees. However, when you are walking with God your walk will align with his walk and will.

Walk By Faith Not by sight

Only Jesus Christ is Perfect! Humans are flawed and will “mess up” over and over again. But God extends his mercy to you every single time because God is a good God!

God desires for you to spend time with him. Your relationship with God will become stagnant if you don’t make it a priority.

What happens is you get so busy and before you know it God’s on the back burner simmering and waiting for you to decide to make time for him. Ouch!

Are you fervently looking for opportunities to show God you understand the importance of walking with Him?

Are you seeking people out who need to hear the gospel or do you stay on the sidelines?

Do you convince yourself to think that area is too bad for me to go in? Someone else will do it!

I want to be honest I am not always looking for those opportunities. I make the excuse that someone else is more qualified than I am.

He or she can connect on a better level than I ever could. I even bargain with God which by the way you will lose…EVERY TIME!

God wants willing vessels to proclaim his goodness to others. If only you would take that first small step of faith God would guide your feet and give your mouth the words to speak.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Psalm 37:23

Walk With God Faithfully

When you attend your Church services do you go in with the knowledge that it’s one on one time between you and the Lord?

Your sole focus should be lifting high the matchless name of Jesus Christ our Savior. When you are singing praises to the King do you envision that God is your audience of one?

Put God first

Are you focusing on those around you instead of focusing on your Savior? Are you consumed by what others may think? I know I am guilty and I freely admit that! God deserves your very best.

Have you had experiences where you have been meditating on God and have felt his presence so strong it’s as if you are swaying in a slow dance? Do you LONG for those moments? I do.

As born-again believers of Jesus Christ, the importance of walking with God is making time to pray in secret (wherever that may be) and having fervent one-on-one prayer.

God wants you to bow down on your knees laying yourself bare before him. You should long to know and understand him more. If you would seek his face can you imagine how strong your faith can become?

Show others the Joy of Walking with God

When you grasp the importance of walking with God it’s by far the sweetest relationship you will have. In other words, you are declaring to the world who matters most in your life.

You will find unsurmountable peace and rest for your weary soul that you didn’t realize you were looking for and found when you entered into a relationship with God himself.

Benefits of Walking with God

Walking with God assures you when you take your last breath on earth you’ll be taking your next breath in Heaven.

In all honesty, there is NO greater reward than this you will receive. To hear the following words…

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master. Matthew 25:21

Walk in the Ways of God

When you are saved you are commanded to walk in the ways of God. To do this you must study God’s scriptures so you can imitate Him and his ways.

With this in mind, it’s so you can show the lost and dying world the way of grace, and love. and walking towards the path of righteousness.

What are the four pillars of the importance of walking with God?

Conviction

I’m more than certain everyone understands what conviction is right? It’s when you start to do something or flat-out disobey what you know you should not do yet the lies of the devil convince you it’s not that big of a deal, right?

When Jesus ascended to Heaven he left you a helper which is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will prick your conscience until you repent of what you know was wrong of you to do in the first place.

Repentance is being honest with God. Remember, nothing is hidden from God but he longs to hear from His children. What’s comforting to know is God knows everything about you yet chooses to love you despite your mess.

Repentance is part of your daily sanctification so you are transformed to be more like Jesus Christ.

When God looks at you and me, He sees His Son and that brings me confidence knowing this because without Jesus taking our place we would be doomed to Hell for all eternity…That’s too scary to comprehend!

Knowledge

Knowledge is recognizing you must be in God’s word daily. The more time spent in God’s word is knowing to fight off spiritual roadblocks in our paths.

Satan will do everything in His power to trip you up and send you crumbling. When you saturate your mind with God’s word the more prepared you are for the battle you’ll be!

Interceding

Intercession positions God in the most prominent place in everything in your life. Do you know when you are unsure what or how to pray Jesus is interceding for you on your behalf? You can rest in the confidence of knowing this.

And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 10:12

You must desire to have fellowship with Jesus Christ. In doing this your worldly desires will decrease and your desire to Please God will abundantly increase.

The Importance of walking with God is He becomes your focus and your heart longs for Him and seeks His presence. God is so good to you and he is always faithful and dependable in your daily walk with him. God gives you knowledge and wisdom when you come before Him every day to study the Bible and meditate on his scriptures.
