Do you know the importance of walking with God? It is easy to tell people to walk faithfully, but what is more important is teaching people the importance of walking with God. When Jesus Christ returns to take his bride to Heaven I do not want to be left behind. I am certain that you feel the same way, right Friends? We must walk faithfully!
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly, with your God. Micah 6:8
THE IMPORTANCE OF WALKING WITH GOD
We need to be walking faithfully with God now so we will know without a doubt we will be ready for when Jesus Christ returns. If you are walking with “someone,” you don’t want to be walking, in a different direction.
If you’re walking in opposite directions you can’t speak to one another nor can you see what the other see’s. However, when you are walking with God your walk and will align with his walk and will.
THAT DOESN’T MEAN YOU OR I WILL WALK FAITHFULLY WITH GOD PERFECTLY!
Only Jesus Christ is Perfect! You and I are human and flawed and we will “mess up” over and over again. But God extends his mercy to us because he is a good God! God desires for us to spend time with him. Our relationship with God will become stagnant if we don’t make it a priority.
What happens is, we can get so busy and before you know it he’s on the back burner simmering and waiting for us to decide to make time for him. Ouch!
Are you fervently looking for opportunities to show God you understand the importance of walking with Him? Are you seeking people out who need to hear the gospel or do you stay on the sidelines? Do you convince yourself thinking that area is to bad for me to go in? Someone else will do it!
I want to be totally honest I am not always looking for those opportunities. I make the excuse that someone else is more qualified than I am. He or she can connect on a better level than I ever could. I even bargain with God which by the way you will lose…EVERY TIME!
God wants willing vessels to proclaim his goodness to others. If only we would take that first small step of faith God would guide our feet and give our mouths the words to speak.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Psalm 37:23
OUR WORSHIP IS UNDERSTANDING THE IMPORTANCE OF WALKING WITH GOD, AND DOING IT FAITHFULLY!
When you attend your Church services do you go in with the knowledge that it’s one on one time between you and the Lord?
Our sole focus should be lifting high the Matchless name of Jesus Christ our Savior. When you are singing praises to the King do you envision that God is your audience of one?
IS GOD THE ONLY ONE YOU ARE SINGING TO?
Are you focusing on those around you instead of focusing on your Savior? Are you consumed by what others may think? I know I am Guilty and I freely admit that! God deserves our very best.
I have had many experiences where I have been meditating on God and have felt his presence so strong it’s as if I’m swaying in a slow dance. I LONG for those moments!
PRAYER IS WALKING FAITHFULLY WITH GOD
As born again believers of Jesus Christ the importance of walking with God is making time to pray in secret (wherever that may be) and have fervent one on one-time prayer.
God wants us to bow down on our knees laying ourselves bare before him. We should long to only know and understand him more. If we would just seek his face can you imagine how strong our faith would become?
THE JOY OF WALKING WITH GOD
Sweet Friend, when you are walking with God it’s by far the sweetest relationship you will have. In other words, you are declaring to the world who matters most in your life.
You will find unsurmountable peace and rest for your weary soul that you didn’t realize you were looking for and found when you entered into a relationship with God himself.
Benefits of Walking with God
Walking with God gives you the assurance when you take your last breath on earth you’ll be taking your next breath in Heaven. In all honesty, there is NO greater reward than this we will receive. To hear the words…
His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master. Matthew 25:21
Walking in the Ways of God
When we are saved we are commanded to walk in the ways of God. To do this we must study God’s scriptures so we can imitate Him and his ways. With this in mind, it’s so we can show the lost and dying world the way of grace, love. and walking towards the path of righteousness.
What are the four pillars of walking with God?
I’m more than certain everyone understands what conviction is right? It’s when you start to do something or flat out disobey what you know you should not do yet the lies of the devil convince you it’s not that big of a deal.
When Jesus ascended to Heaven he left us a helper which is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will not let up pricking your conscience until you repent of what you know was wrong in the first place.
Repentance is being honest with God. Remember, nothing is hidden from God but he longs to hear from His children. What’s comforting to know is God knows everything us yet chooses to love us in spite of our mess.
Repentance is part of our daily sanctification so we’re transformed to be more like Jesus Christ. When God looks at you and me, He sees His Son and that brings me confidence knowing this because without Jesus taking my place I’d be doomed to Hell for all eternity…That’s too scary to comprehend!
Knowledge is recognizing you must be in God’s word daily. The more time spend in God’s word is having the knowledge to fight off spiritual roadblocks in our paths. What I mean by this is Satan will do everything in His power to trip us up and send us crumbling. When we saturate our mind with God’s word the more prepared for battle will be!
Intercession positions God in the most prominent place in everything in our lives. Do you know when we’re unsure what or how to pray Jesus is interceding for you and me on our behalf? We can rest in the confidence of knowing this.
