For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6).
However, as every Christmas Season comes around, it is less and less about Jesus’s birth.
It gets more and more commercialized, and images flood our minds, to purchase _____, which will surely be the greatest gift we can EVER receive!
I want you to understand, that the greatest gift EVER given, can NOT be purchased with money!
It was purchased by the sacrifice and bloodshed on Calvary!
The greatest gift is the birth, death, and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ!
I want to share a confession, that weighs heavily on my mind at times.
I consider my Blog a gift, given by God, to share the good news with others.
I enjoy uplifting and encouraging others.
However, there are times when it consumes my thoughts, that I need to write this “Perfect!”
I didn’t go about it the “Perfect” way!
See Friends, I want to do my best, and Honor God, to the best of my ability, but my Blog will NEVER be “Perfect” because I am human, flawed, and as far from “Perfect” as they come.
I NEVER want to be so consumed, with what I consider perfection, that I forget the reason, I am doing it, to begin with.
I do NOT want my Blog to get more of my attention, over spending time with my Savior.
My intentions good as they may be, can NOT get in the way of my relationship with God.
God must be first in my life, NOT second place, to anything or anyone.
Anything we can EVER receive on this earth does NOT come close in comparison, to the greatest gift ever given to us, and doesn’t cost us anything.
That gift is Jesus Christ beloved.
It costs you and I nothing.
It is a gift given freely to us, by the birth of Jesus Christ.
When Christmas draws near, we can get so consumed, with our version of the “Perfect Christmas” that we can push aside what it is truly about…The Birth of Jesus.
Why do we put such demands on ourselves Friends?
These things do NOT need to be “Perfect” What we need to remember is the “Perfect” way God chose to make himself known to us, and that is through his Son…Jesus Christ
Our Perfect List may look something like this, and these things shouldn’t be our focus, to begin with
- Perfect Christmas Tree for our home
- Perfect Christmas Dinner for our Family
- Perfect Christmas Family Portrait to send
- Perfect Christmas Outdoor Decorations outside our house
- Perfect Christmas Indoor Decorations inside our home
- Perfect Christmas Gifts for our Children and Grandchildren
- Perfect Christmas Party for our Friends and Coworkers
- Perfect Christmas Vacation that you want to give your Family
- Perfect Christmas Cards to send to your Loved Ones
- Perfect Christmas Attitude to extend to others
This list is NOT me criticizing ANYONE for ANY of these things.
Trust me when I say, that I am reminding ME, of these very things also.
My point is this.
We can get so wrapped up, in wanting this list to be “PERFECT” that we become so busy, and can forget the most important thing.
THE ONLY “PERFECT” THING!
The Reason for the Season to begin with… The birth of Jesus Christ
The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means “God with us”). (Matthew 1:23). God is with us through Jesus Christ. Jesus humbled himself as a servant, so you and I could be reconciled with God.
I can NOT think of a greater gift, that we can receive, can you?
It is one that you and I do NOT deserve but is given to us freely nonetheless.
I am so grateful for that, aren’t you?
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16).
We must keep the true meaning of Christmas, in our hearts, and always at the forefront of our mind.
It’s NOT in the hurrying and the scurrying to get more done, and it is NOT found in purchasing gifts.
We find THE REAL MEANING OF CHRISTMAS when we make JESUS CHRIST the focus of the season.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17).
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests. (Luke 2:14.)
The real spirit of CHRISTmas is giving, loving, caring and serving others, as our Father in Heaven has done for you and I.
May we use this season, as an opportunity, to bless others, who may not know about Jesus, and to share the love of Christ with them. Jesus is the reason for the season
I included a short video clip of The Nativity Story below for you to consider watching.
Your Sister in Christ
Hey Friends. Thank you for taking time out of your day, to spend a few moments in mine. As a follower of Jesus Christ, it’s important to me to share the gospel with you. I write about my ups and downs, my struggles and insecurities, but above all else, I share how God brings me through it all. Let’s continue our walk with Christ together.
