And the King will answer and say to them, Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. ( Matthew 25:40 ).
It’s a shame when you turn the TV or Radio on, all you see and hear is negativity. It’s like they’re focusing on the bad people do, instead of the good. Where is the stories about people, who make a difference in other’s lives? I for one would love, where they could focus on the “GOOD” people do.
Friends, I want you to think about how you would answer this question…Who has made the biggest impact, and difference in your life? I’m talking about someone who has changed, who you are, what you think, what you say, and the person you want to become.
Is it a firefighter who has risked his or her life to save yours? When a fire breaks out, our human nature is to flee, out of the burning building, but for a fireman, they’re running into a fire, risking the chance, of not getting to see their family again, to save someone, they don’t even know.
Is it a police officer, who has risked his or her life, by protecting you, in one circumstance or another? A policeman is willing to take a bullet, for someone they don’t know. They never know what to expect, even if it’s something simple, like serving a warrant.
Is it military service personnel? These brave men and women, are the reason you and I, get to enjoy the freedom we have. Sadly, our freedom costs them their’s, in many cases. Some may lose their lives in battle, whereas some come back from a war, with their lives, forever altered due to PTSD.
Is it a Dr, nurse, or a paramedic, that has helped you in many areas, of your medical care and treatment? These men and women, spend hours upon hours, helping those who are sick, hurt, or in need of rescue.
Is it a unique teacher, that has seen something special in you, that you would’ve never seen, with your own eyes. He or she has altered your life, just believing in you, and your ability, when no one else has?
It is a stranger that offers a smile when they pass you by? So many people today are lonely and want to be acknowledged. They want to know someone cares.
Is it a waiter or waitress, that lends a friendly ear, at your favorite restaurant? People want someone, they can simply talk to, without judgment.
All of these listed, our Making a Difference, in many people’s lives today, mine included. However, other than my family…Who has defined the person I am today? I want to share with you, two specific’s that are “Making a Difference” in my life EVERYDAY!
My Savior (Making a Difference)
First and most importantly is Jesus Christ! He has made the BIGGEST DIFFERENCE in my life! If it weren’t for God, sacrificing his ONLY BEGOTTEN SON for ME, I would have NO HOPE whatsoever!
No matter how many times, “I MESS UP” God still loves me, just as I am, faults and all! Trust me, Friends, I fall short EVERY SINGLE DAY! I give God countless reasons, NOT to love me daily, but he NEVER stops, and NEVER will!
God has ALWAYS been by my side, even when I turned my back on him, he never ONCE left me! Even when I blamed him, for so many years, during my abusive marriage! I thought he left me and didn’t love me! I blamed him for not sending someone, to help me out of that situation! Looking back now, I can see God was there, protecting me in the shelter of his arms!
I was so angry at God when I lost my first grandchild. All I could say was “Why did you allow him, to be a part of our lives if your plan was to snatch him away so soon?” I just thought he was being cruel! Now I realize, God was there for me, during that loss. At the time, it sure didn’t feel that way! Tyler is still impacting lives today, and I have the assurance, that I will get to see him, again one day!
I would be doomed, to a devil’s Hell, for ALL eternity, if not for the sacrifice, of the bloodshed on Calvary…FOR ME! Jesus Christ took upon himself, to receive the punishment, that should have been mine, for no other reason, than he loved me! Jesus Christ was doing his fathers will, FOR ME!
I know I don’t give God, the time he deserves, in Prayer and reading the Bible, as I know I should. I get distracted and busy and focus on other things. However, my Eternity is secure, as a born-again believer, of Jesus Christ, because I put my faith and trust in him alone! That can NOT be taken from me!
My Patients (Making a Difference)
I’m a Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant, at an Oncology Office. My patients tell me ALL THE TIME, how much I make, the process easier for them, due to the fact, they feel God’s peace and presence, when they come, in my lab bay. That is the biggest compliment, I can EVER receive!
My job is so rewarding, but it can also be, emotionally draining sometimes. I get so attached, and it’s hard, especially when they don’t make it. It’s like losing a piece, of yourself and a family member!
Last week was a rough one. I have had several say, I just don’t want this anymore! I am tired of the side effects, of the chemotherapy! I do not want to spend, the remainder of my life, feeling this way!
Talking about hard! You try to listen to that, without tears, pouring down your face. You have to remain strong, for them and the family. At the same time, I can totally understand, where they’re coming from. If I were told tomorrow, Angie you have Cancer, and we need to start treatment. I would say NO! My family knows that would be my decision. I wouldn’t want treatment, for myself personally. I know how it would be, in regards to my Immune System. NO THANK YOU!
However, NOTHING prepares you, when a patient basically, tells you goodbye in “their own way.” Yep, that happened last week. A patient said Angie, “I’m done!” “The Dr has done EVERYTHING, they could do, nothing has worked, and it keeps getting, larger and stronger, so we’re stopping treatment!”
This patient was in so much pain, and their spouse said, it was due to the fact, that he had spent too much time, working in their wood shop. I looked at him and said, “You know better than that!” He replied, “I had to get what I’m working on, finished for my grandchildren, and I’m afraid, I won’t get it done in time!”
Y’all, I about lost it, right then and there. Then he went on to say, how much of an impact, I have made on his life, how very much he loved me and told me that my husband, was one very lucky man, to have me as his wife. He stood and hugged me and said, “Angie I really Love you, and I want you to know that!”
After I took them to his room, I came back to my lab bay in tears. It tore me up. What’s sad is, they weren’t the only ones last week. Countless patients shared stories, that shook me to my core. It changed how I view my own circumstances, and the life I live currently!
My point is this, although they tell me, on a daily basis, that I “Make a Difference” in their lives, they’ve got it all wrong. They “Make a Difference, in my life!! See Friends, you may never know, who you come in contact with, that can change hearts, and alter a life completely. Trust Me…I Know!
Be the kind of person, that changes lives for the better. Go and “Make a Difference” to someone today. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests but also for the interests of others. ( Philippians 2:4 ).
