There are plenty of Bible verses on serving others, but let’s take some time first to see how we are lending a helping hand to those in need around us.
Friends, does my feature photo bother you as much as it has me?
I couldn’t imagine NOT having a roof over my head especially as cold as it has been lately.
Can you imagine the photo being you and feeling hunger pains and NOT knowing where your next meal is gonna come from.
Can you see the photo being one of your loved ones?
We do NOT want ANYONE to be in this position.
My confession and conviction that is weighing heavily on my heart are I have passed many in this situation.
How can I be a Christian just pass by this scenario and NOT try to help?
Have you been there?
I suppose if you are like me you try your best NOT to make eye contact and will start looking for coins to distract your eyes from meeting theirs.
We don’t want to witness the shame and sadness reflecting back at us.
Sadly, many people play on your heartstrings.
Now I am NOT saying all do.
Reasons we may need these Bible verses on serving others
So many genuine people have fallen on hard times and never thought they’d be homeless.
How would you feel if that ended up being you?
Then you have some people who have become this way due to addictions.
Maybe you have loved ones who have pushed and used family and friends to the point they can no longer be trusted.
Some cannot help themselves at all due to emotional or mental health issues.
Some refuse help.
Regardless, I find it hard to block the image from my mind no matter what I do.
It makes me feel like the worst person EVER because I didn’t do anything and I dwell on it.
Thoughts take over when I neglect serving others:
I should’ve given them something.
I should have taken them something to eat?
Should I drive back another day and see if they’re there?
Are they cold?
Will they be Ok?
What people need more than anything is our love, compassion, and understanding.
Talk to them about the one who loves them more than anyone ever could.
I have also struggled with why many businesses and churches can’t open their facilities when it’s freezing weather.
Many could but choose NOT to do so.
It may be out of fear and worry.
I suppose they do NOT want trouble and in today’s world, it’s hard to tell the difference between helping and hindering.
See Friends, we do NOT know what has happened in their lives for them to be in this situation.
We Often do the following ____ when it comes to serving others?
Tend to judge first and ask questions later.
We want to judge if they are worthy of our help first then we will give them aid.
The individual may be sincere but how do we know that.
How do we know that they aren’t going to use what we give them for something other than food?
Simply put is We don’t! God does!
God’s word tells us to help the poor and needy repeatedly.
We are NOT to seek the treasures of this world but store up treasure in Heaven.
10 Bible Verses on Serving Others
What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Serving Others is modeling Christ’s Example

Then He also said to him who invited Him, When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. And you will be blessed because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.
He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, And He will pay back what he has given.
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Then the righteous will answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you? And the King will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.
He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, But he who honors Him has mercy on the needy.
